The region is just 8 cases low behind Ashanti Region which has recorded 59 cases with Greater Accra Region unenviably dominating with 685 confirmed cases. The current national tally is now 834.
Apart from Fanteakwa North which has recorded a confirmed case, the rest are being recorded in the Eastern Region are from among construction workers with Afconz Infrastructural Limited in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality.
There have been calls for an immediate lockdown of the region by many individuals and groups including the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in the Health-Eastern regional branch but the Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour says the calls are premature given that most of the cases recorded are confined. He however said, the situation is being monitored by the Regional Security Council and that lockdown could not be ruled out when the time is ripped for President Akufo-Addo who is commander in chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, to do so.
