Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered reliable information indicating that Ransford Owusu Boakye, the current Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC, is likely to be nominated as the Mayor of New Juaben South Metropolitan Assembly.
Nine individuals initially contested for the position, including:Martin Otu Offei – 2020 & 2024 parliamentary candidate
Ransford Owusu Boakye – Former parliamentary candidate & NADMO Director Emmanuel Bedjaben – Former parliamentary aspirant, now a headmaster,Salassie Amuzu – Constituency chairman and Sawodji Kwame Stephen, a Private legal consultant.
However, documents intercepted by Mybrytfmonline.com suggest that Ransford Owusu Boakye has been shortlisted as the sole candidate presented to President John Mahama by the Regional Vetting Committee for nomination.
In a related development, the Queen Mother of Otoase in the Ayensuano District, Nana Awo Yaa Aboah, is among 277 individuals who have successfully undergone vetting for the position of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) in the Eastern Region.
She is competing with over a dozen other applicants for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position in Ayensuano.
Speaking to the media, she emphasized her desire to spearhead development in the area and combat illegal sand winning, which has caused severe environmental degradation and threatens livelihoods.
Following a recent deadly clash at Coltar, she revealed that the traditional council has imposed a ban on sand-winning activities in the area.
The selection process for MMDCEs and Mayors remains a crucial step in appointing competent leaders to drive local governance and development.
