Large quantities of local gin known as Akpeteshie are being transported from Akenteng and Jato in Upper Manya and Suhum Municipalities in the Eastern Region respectively to the Volta Region, following claims that there is a shortage of the alcohol in the region as a result of the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The Communities are known for mass production of the local gin in the Region.
Mybrytfmonline.com observed over the weekend that many trucks fully loaded with barrels of Akpeteshie are being transported to the Volta Region.
A truckload of the local gin was spotted in Asesewa Sunday afternoon being conveyed to the Volta Region.
The driver, Frank Tetteh said this is his second trip since Friday.
