The former Zebilla Member of Parliament (MP) Lawyer John Akparibo Ndebugri says Martin Amidu’s capability of performing his duties as Special Prosecutor was the aid of Jerry John Rawlings but due to his unexpected demise is the main reason behind Martin Amidu’s resignation.
According to Ndebugri, Martin Amidu was protected by John Rawlings in the act of his duties hence his sudden occurrence has eliminated the protection.
Speaking on Accra Based-Television, Lawyer Ndebugre enlightened that the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings, which occurred on 12 November 2020 has removed “the only protection” Amidu had and thus he had no choice but to quit immediately.
“The main reason Amidu was able to perform his duties without any fear or favour was that the late former President served as the only conduit between Amidu and President Nana Akufo-Addo,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Martin Amidu meant in his resignation letter by stating “the vacuum created on 12th November 2020.”
