The Third National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Micheal Omari Wadie has called on the NDC MPs to refrain from petty party politics and have the country at large during decisions taking in Parliament.
Mr. Omari Wadie says he unreservedly does not agree with the NDC leadership that approving some nominees for ministerial positions was “regrettable and unfortunate, and runs contrary to the principles and values of the party.”
He said the opposition NDC should refrain from petty party politics and have the country at large.
In a statement on Tuesday [March 16, 2021], Chairman of the NDC Council of Elders Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu noted that the Council and the caucus leadership collectively agreed that the incident of 3rd March 2021 where some nominees for ministerial positions were approved was “regrettable and unfortunate, and runs contrary to the principles and values of the party.”
According to the statement, the caucus leadership has since pledged to uphold the principles and values of the party in their collective bid to develop the country.
The Council urged the national leadership of the party to resolve issues relating to the caucus leadership in Parliament and called on the rank and file of the party to remain calm, and provide the needed support to the parliamentary caucus to hold the Akufo-Addo-led government strictly to the principles of probity and accountability.
On a contrary, Mr. Michael Omari Wadie said he disagrees with the leadership of the National Democratic Party stating Ghana’s development is a responsibility for all.
“I’m from Ghana whether my party is in government or opposition. Ghana is for us. Never will anyone develop Ghana for us. If a fetish priest gives an evil prophecy and the town burns won’t he burn?”
“You are in Ghana and says your party is not governing the country, so, if any good policy is coming our way, you will fight against it,” he asserted.
Mr. Omari Wadie also indicated that the assumption some of the Minister-designates were unfit for office is borne out of sheer envy, hatred, and party politics.
He said, “It wouldn’t be a surprise Hawa Koomson ends up becoming the best-performed minister. The Bible says the rejected stone shall become the cornerstone. Just because someone is not articulate in English, one is superior to you are, he’s handsome than you or the person is taller than you, is an MP you wanted to unseat him or her”
‘In the last administration they said (Dominic Nitiwil) is too young to be a Defense Minister,” he added.
