Political Lecturer at the University of Ghana Dr Ransford Gyampo has advised presidential aspirants to reject outgoing leadership support publicly.
According to the outspoken lecturer, anytime an outgoing leader attempts to impose a candidate publicly, the chances of the such person reduces as far as the 4th Republic is concerned.
Even though Dr Gyampo failed to be emphatic with his Facebook comment, its import seems to be directed to Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic.
There have been several commentaries on the future of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) next Flag bearer for the 2024 general elections as Dr Bawumia is expected to contest the slot with Trade minister, Alan Kyeremanten and many others.
The Presidency has been accused of sidelining the aspirations of the Vice President, a situation that has created a lot of discomfort in the party’s support base.
However, Dr Ransford Gyampo’s latest post suggests he is against the current power struggle ongoing in the NPP and seems to offer free counselling on social media.
