John Dramani Mahama, a former president, has raised concern over the Akufo-Addo administration’s disregard for health initiatives across the nation.
He claims that the current administration has no interest in enhancing the health sector and only wastes tax dollars.
“I urge the government to avoid wasting the money paid for by our taxpayers and to move swiftly to construct these hospitals.”
Mr Mahama expressed regret that hospitals built under his watch have not been used because of factors best known to the government.
Mr Mahama pointed out that the Bamboi Polyclinic is one of the underutilized hospitals that his administration built as part of a plan to provide access to medical treatment.
“ Why do you leave a facility to rot away while the people they were built for are left to suffer, with some even losing their lives because of lack of the care they need.”
The former president pleaded with the District Chief Executive and the District Health Director to see that the Bamboi polyclinic was utilized for the local population’s benefit.
When he and his wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama, dedicated a Maternity and Children’s Ward at the Bole hospital in the Savannah region, former president John Dramani Mahama made this public.
Their 30th wedding anniversary celebration included commissioning the project through the Lordina Foundation.
The project includes 45-bed maternity and pediatric ward with 10 baby beds, a neonatal care unit, 3 incubators, 5 phototherapy units, a kangaroo mother and child care centre, a delivery room, a recovery ward, a theatre and accessories, a sterilization room, a doctors’ consultation room, and a nurses’ work station, among other amenities.
