Real Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu did not honour Black Stars call up for the final round of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers because an agreement was reached between the club and Ghana Football Association.
The combative midfielder was named among coach Akonnor’s squad for the doubleheader against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe but he could not join the Black Stars camp due to covid-19 restrictions in Spain.
It has been revealed that the Spanish Segunda B outfit and GFA reached an agreement so that he does not join the team for the qualifiers.
Baba, who has been key for his outfit in the ongoing season would be obliged to quarantine on his return from the international duty
Having been a key figure for the club as they chase promotion back to the La Liga, his absence will have a big effect on the team, hence the decision to reach consensus with the FA to keep Iddrisu.
They are currently top of the Segunda table but with as many as 11 games to go.
Baba has recovered from a slow start to become a key player in the team, making 17 league appearances.
