The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken serious note of comments made by Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng in a recent interview on Channel One TV which happened on Monday, 12th January 2026.
During the interview, he described the Party as a “fake party” and said he no longer considers himself a member of the NPP.
In the same interview, Professor Frimpong Boateng also made defamatory remarks about the Party, alleging that the 2023 Presidential Primary was manipulated in favour of His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.
The Party in a press statement totally rejects Professor Frimpong Boateng’s unfortunate characterization of the NPP and denies his baseless claims about the 2023 Presidential Primary. The primary was widely accepted by all candidates who participated and by well‑meaning Party members, and was conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and credible manner that truly reflects the will of Party delegates.
The New Patriotic Party views Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng’s conduct and utterances as highly unbecoming and contrary to the Party’s values of unity and integrity. Consequently, the Party has invoked the relevant provisions of its Constitution to begin the necessary processes to expel him from the Party, strictly following due process.
