Roads and Highways minister Francis Asenso-Boakye wrapped up his nationwide tour of the road sector since assuming office, with an inspection in the Oti Region, accompanied by the Regional Minister, Mr. Daniel Machator.
Among others, the team inspected the Jasikan-Dodopepesu road (64km), which has been fully completed under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, and the reconstruction of the Hohoe to Jasikan Road, which is 80% complete, all significant components of the Eastern Corridor Road Development.
Additionally, the assessed the progress of the Nkwanta-Kpassa-Oti Damanko road (50.3km), which is currently 48% complete.
Francis Asenso-Boakye assured residents of the government’s continued commitment to advancing road construction as a catalyst for socio-economic growth and development.
During our visit to Nkwanta, the district capital of Nkwanta South, the minister discovered an unfortunate situation, as he have seen in other regions, where some unscrupulous individuals remove bolts and nuts that hold a bridge causing it to collapse.
He directed the Bridge Maintenance Unit (BMU) of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to assess the situation for immediate action and urged the community to act as watchdogs to protect government investments.
The minister added “Moreover, I visited the ongoing construction of the Pusugu-Bontibor feeder road (21km), which is crucial for supporting farming activities in the area.
This nationwide tour has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the country’s road situation, since assuming office, in February, this year. I therefore wish to extend my sincere gratitude to all stakeholders, including public officials, experts at the Ministry, and my friends in the media for their support during these visits”.
