Accra, July 26, 2025 — Ghana is in mourning following the confirmed passing of one of its greatest musical icons, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In a statement issued by the Fosu family and signed by their legal representative, Fati Ali Yallah, Esq., the family announced with “profound sorrow and deep grief” that Daddy Lumba passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.
“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives,” the statement read.
With a career spanning over three decades, Daddy Lumba’s soulful voice and deeply emotional lyrics became the soundtrack to love, loss, resilience, and national identity for many Ghanaians. His contribution to highlife music and his influence on generations of artists earned him legendary status both locally and internationally.
The Fosu family has requested privacy during this difficult period and assured the public that funeral arrangements will be communicated in the coming days.
Daddy Lumba was 60 years old.
