South African president Cyril Ramaphosa is set to sign a controversial national health bill into law which aims to provide universal coverage to millions of poor citizens.
The National Health Insurance (NHI) bill worth billions of dollars was passed by lawmakers last year and will be implemented in stages.
However, opposition parties and civil society groups are warning that the bill has multiple issues that need to be addressed.
Currently 84% of South Africans rely on low-quality public healthcare.
