Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Dr Akuffo Dampare, to remove a billboard advertising LGBTQ events in Ghana within 24 hours.
The billboard, according to Ningo Prampram, is an assault on the 1992 Constitution.
He stated that he and other inhabitants of this country will dismantle the billboard within the legal framework.
“We are calling on the Inspector General of Police, Dr Akuffo Dampare, to promptly, within the next twenty-four hours, carry out the appropriate security measures to ensure that this billboard, which is an affront to the 1992 Constitution, is removed in collaboration with the MCE for the region.” If lawmakers and anti-gay activists like Moses Foh-Amoaning fail to act, “as citizens, we shall take action as required by the Constitution to preserve the Constitution,” the lawmaker declared when visiting the billboard’s position on Thursday, June 9.
