On the 2nd and 3rd of August, 2023, Ghana’s Second Lady, Samira Bawumia will be convening the maiden edition of the Africa Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC).
The event will be bringing together high-level government officials, policymakers, experts, representatives from international organizations, civil society, and community leaders to drive conversations on the theme; “Amplifying the Voices of Women and Children in Climate Action.”
Accra will host this 2-day conference to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration on climate change issues affecting women and children across Africa, while highlighting the unique ways women can contribute to Climate Action.
The outcomes of AFRIWOCC will contribute to conversations at the Africa Climate Summit/Week, scheduled for September 4th – 8th, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya.
These discussions are expected to shape Africa’s position at the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties’ twenty-eighth session (COP 28), to be held from November 30th – December 12th, 2023, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
