School feeding caterers have confirmed that all their 31-day arrears have been paid by the government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
According to them, the current government has done well in paying their money. In a phone interview with Sompa FM’s Bawah Baidoo, one of the caterers revealed that if some of their members haven’t received theirs, it means there was a problem initially that led to that challenge.
It will be recalled that barely two days ago, the government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection paid the 31 days’ arrears owed to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Program for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year. The Ghana School Feeding Program Secretariat extends its appreciation to the government for the timely release of funds for the payment of outstanding arrears owed to the caterers.
Some of the caterers who have received their money expressed their gratitude to the government.
They further urged the government to extend the school feeding program to rural areas such as KooNtikrom, Kodiab3, and Banahenekrom.
Some caterers also pointed out that some individuals receive monthly payments without cooking food for the children, and they urged the government to monitor those caterers who often engage in such practices.
