Security agencies in the Eastern Region have affirmed their readiness for a successful 67th Independence Day parade, following an endurance walk through the streets of Koforidua on Saturday.
Koforidua is hosting this year’s independence day anniversary parade.
The city of Koforidua has witnessed a significant presence of security agencies, with streets lined by security vehicles and military helicopters flying overhead as part of parade rehearsals.
On Saturday, representatives from various security agencies participated in a walk to demonstrate their preparedness for the upcoming event.
Addressing the security personnel, Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP Mr. Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, DCOI Faisal Dish, Immigration Commander ADP Thomas Seidu, Regional Prison Commander, Regional Fire Commander, and ACFO Madam Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, expressed confidence in their readiness for the task ahead.
The theme for this year’s Independence Day parade is “Our Democracy, Our Pride,” with a focus on reinforcing democratic values and promoting peace, particularly in light of the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The Special Guest of Honour for the celebration will be Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.
The parade will feature 21 contingents of security agencies, representatives from 11 schools, and various traditional groups, all set to participate in the festivities.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong joined the Muslim community in prayers for the sustainability of religious harmony and the success of the independence anniversary celebrations.
