Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has expressed deep concern following the tragic death of 21-year-old mobile money vendor Desmond Adzah, who was allegedly killed by armed robbers at Quarters Junction, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt 99.1 FM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Kumadoe cautioned that mobile money vendors remain vulnerable to criminal attacks—often due to inadequate safety practices.
“While the police are responsible for providing protection, vendors must also take personal responsibility for their own safety,” Kumadoe stated. “Many of them become easy targets because of their actions or negligence.”
He urged mobile money business owners to prioritize the welfare of their agents by investing in practical security measures.
“The lives of these vendors matter. Business owners must also play a role in ensuring their safety,” Kumadoe added.
The fatal incident has reignited public debate about the safety of mobile money operators, who are increasingly targeted in robberies nationwide.
In conclusion, Kumadoe called on all at-risk sectors—especially those handling cash transactions—to engage proactively with the police and adopt collaborative strategies to curb violent crimes.
