Security Services in the Eastern Region on Saturday embarked on an endurance walk as part of preparation ahead of the December 7 Election.
The exercise seeks to demonstrate the readiness of the security to ensure a peaceful election was participated by personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Immigration, Customs, Military, Ghana National Fire Service, and Prison service.
They walked through the principal streets of the Eastern Regional Capital amidst singing of morale songs while holding placards with inscriptions of peace message. They also displayed vehicles and other resources at their disposal for the elections.
The Eastern Regional Commander, DCOP Edward Oyirifi-Akrofi who participated in the exercise told newsmen that, it is to demonstrate and send a signal to the public that the security services are ready to protect them therefore must come out in their numbers to vote.
He also said the exercise is to send a signal to trouble makers that the security services are ready for them.
