Semanhyia Learning and Development Farms, valued at five million cedis, has made a significant move from Berekum in the Bono Region to Abbesim to a farming community in the Eastern Region.
The decision came after facing closure by local chiefs in Berekum due to a longstanding taboo against rearing live goats on the land.
The unexpected closure of the Berekum site prompted the relocation to Abbesim near Nankese in the Suhum municipality, where new structures are being erected to sustain the vision of Semanhyia Farms.
Fredrick Benneh Frimpong, the founder and CEO, announced that the relocated farms would serve as a research center for modern livestock rearing in Ghana, aiming to train more individuals and boost the livestock sector to meet the growing demand.
Frimpong expressed gratitude for the initial financial support from Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, facilitating the purchase of additional land to expand operations.
He reiterated the farm’s commitment to achieving its objectives and contributing to the development of the livestock industry in Ghana.
The move signifies Semanhyia Farms’ resilience in the face of adversity and its determination to continue making valuable contributions to the agricultural sector despite challenges.
