Senegal international Sadio Mane will bid farewell to continental competitions after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.
The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star steered the Taranga Lions to the finals of the continental showpiece on Wednesday, defeating Egypt 1-0 in the semi-final.
Mane netted the match-winner in the 78th-minute, ensuring Senegal earns a place in the final. They will battle it out for the covetous trophy against hosts, Morocco.
Speaking to RTS, Mane, who secured the Man-of-the-Match award announced he will play his last Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, signaling an end to continental tournament participation.
“I will be happy to play my last final in the Africa Cup of Nations.” He said after the crucial match.
While bowing out of the AFCON, the former Bayern Munich star could end his career with the Taranga Lions after the 2026 World Cup tournament, to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Mane won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with the Senegalese national team for the first time in the history of the Lions of Taranga.
Since making his debut for Senegal in 2012, the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star has made 123 appearances for the national team, scoring 52 goals across the period.
