Daniel Asiedu, an accused person standing trial over the murder of former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, J. B. Danquah-Adu, has revealed how he connived with some individuals in the house of the late Lawmaker to kill him.
The accused told an Accra High Court that he did not jump the wall at the Shiashie residence of the MP to kill him contrary to widely circulated reports in the media.
According to him, some individuals in the late MP’s house opened the gate for him to gain access.
Daniel Asiedu also known as Sexy Don-Don insisted in court Tuesday, March 10, that he was contracted by some people to kill the late J. B Danquah-Adu and was paid GH₵20,000 cash.
The accused said he decided to spill the beans to court because the ghost of the late Lawmaking is tormenting him making it difficult for him to sleep.
“I can’t sleep so I want to speak the truth so that this case will be over, he told the court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo whilst soaked with tears.
Daniel Asiedu also appealed to the court to acquit and discharge his accomplice Vincent Bosso, because he is innocent.
The court was supposed to empanel the jury but was suspended due to the non-availability of counsel for the accused.
The Abuakwa North MP was stabbed multiple times on February 9, 2016.
Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bosso were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder and charged with murder and abetment of crime.
A new judge, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, will take over the trial of the case following the transfer of the substantive Judge Justice George Buadi.
The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, March 18.
