A 16-year-old boy, identified as Moro Mohammed was reported to have drowned in the Amponsah River at Bibiani Zongo in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal of the West North Region district in the Central Region yesterday.
Residents of Bibiani Zongo in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipal of the west north region on Tuesday wept uncontrollably when 16- year-old SHS student drowned in the Amponsah River.
The deceased uncle Morro Mohammed speaking to Bryt FM reporter, Hamza Mohammed explained that the deceased Baba Mohammed, Second-year student of Bibiani Senior High Technical School (BESEC) came to the house to register his Ghana Card.
According to him, Moro Mohammed joined the queue for a longer period so he decided to go out with his friends and swim in the Amponsah River and while they were swimming the late Morro Mohammed slipped to the deep side and couldn’t swim back again.
He added that the Zongo community after receiving the information that the deceased has been drowned organized swimmers to swim and trace the whereabouts of the deceased.
He said about 1730 hours; the swimmers find the lifeless body of Morro Mohammed.
The Police went to the scene and conveyed the body to the Bibiani government hospital for preservation and autopsy.
“Even though there were no marks on the body, the police have begun investigations into the incident,” he added.
