Ghana’s sports minister, Isaac Asiamah has confirmed that he will be cutting the sod for the construction of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium that has been abandoned for so many years.
The event has been scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2020.
Speaking the 26th Ordinary congress of the Ghana FA, he reiterated government desire to construct the traditional stadiums in the country which includes, Pkando, Swedro, Tamale, Konongo and others.
The hugely anticipated ceremony will mark the start of the construction of the 5,000 seater capacity. It will be of a FIFA standard pitch.
The once-iconic stadium now appears bushy and does not even seem like the edifice with the history it has.
In the past, the facility served as the home grounds for Okwahu United when they were counted among the top clubs in the Ghana Premier League.
