Members of Parliament have called for concrete measures to solved perennial flooding following a heavy downpour leading to severe flooding in Accra.
Speaking on the floor of the House , the MP for Ada constituency, Comfort Doyoe , urged Parliament, government as matter of urgency put proper measures in place to solve such occurrences.
She stated categorically, that solving Accra’s chronic flooding is not about talking but implantation.
“Mr. Speaker, we can do these as simple as ABCD , but we don’t care,when we enter the raining season the floods will come, then we talk, talk, talk without doing anything about it. Go to Netherlands where they build in water lanes without expirence flooding”, She lamented.
The Minority whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh , contributing to the statement made in response flooding in Accra , expressed worry on climate change and its impact, citing that human factor contributes to 80% cause of flooding. But stated that something much done to control it
Members made this known during a statement made by Hon. Jerry Ahmed MP for Weija/ Gbawe on recent perennial flooding in his constituency.
The 1st deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafo, presiding over proceeding directed that the statement to minister responsible for Works and Housing, Sanitation and Water Resources to look into the matter.
