Three (3) students of University of Education, Winneba have been confirmed dead whilst about 30 are injured in a fatal crash at Akuapem -Apirede to Somanya road in Eastern region.
The injured are on admission at the Yilo Krobo municipal Hospital located near the accident scene.
The students were en route to the Volta region for excursion at Mountain Afadzato.
The driver of the University’s bus reportedly failed brake hence the crash.
“Three students from University of Education, Winneba confirmed dead living others in severe injuries in an accident at Aprede in the Okere District of the Eastern Region on their way to an Excursion at Mountain Afajato in the Volta region when a coastal vehicle conveying about 36 students failed brake whiles descending a hill and somersaulted in a ditch at Aprede, Somanya Road,” an Eyewitness Jan Dehye Opambuor of rite fm reported.
The Apirede to Somanya road is accident
prone due to curvy and sloppy nature of the road.
Recent near fatal crash on the road involved members of the Eastern Regional Police Band who were involved in a near fatal accident on that stretch of the road.
