Somanya Police has arrested the suspect who allegedly murdered a woman in Gameli Guest House in Somanya in the Eastern Region.
The suspect identified as Prosper Negble is the husband of the now-deceased woman.
On Saturday, April 10, 2021, Akosombo Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mrs. Sapati together with the Somanya Crime Officer, ASP Sylvia Esinam Aforkpah, and the Investigator, Sergeant Richard Eduah continued with the investigation in respect of the murder case of deceased Belief Sakitey and invited some family members including the husband of the deceased.
The husband was identified by three workers at the hotel as the one who came to lodge in the hotel with the woman.
One of them said she was sent three times by the suspect to buy something in a shop for him which made him curious.
The suspect will be put before court on Monday.
The woman Believe Sakitey and the suspect who gave his name as Charles Tetteh to the receptionist, booked and checked into their room on Sunday, April 5, 2021, at about 3:00pm to spend the night and check out the next day.
However, none of them could respond to a knock on the room when they checked in time elapsed on Monday forcing the curious receptionist to open the door of the room which was not locked.
To the surprise of the receptionist, the woman was lying dead in a pool of blood on the bed but the man was nowhere to be found.
The Somanya Police were informed about the incident which investigators were detailed to the scene.
Later, a team of Investigators from the Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua was also dispatched to the scene for crime scene analysis.
The investigators found in the handbag of the deceased an identity card bearing the name Believe Sakitey.
The knife which was stained with blood and wrapped in black polythene kept under the mattress was also retrieved.
The body was conveyed to the Atua Government Hospital morgue for preservation as efforts are underway to arrest the suspect now at large.
