The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has restated that the economy was doing very well until Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine-Russia took his government off course.
He said, the Ghanaian economy was thriving and making positive gains until COVID-19 struck, changing the economic outlook and was further exacerbated by the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine War in February 2022.
President Akufo-Addo said this phenomenon of high inflation rates and downturns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has further been heightened by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to him, Ghana has been the fastest-growing economy for three years in a row now despite the aforementioned challenges.
The president made this statement when he was delivering 2023 state of the Nation address on Wednesday, 8th 2023.
