President Akufo-Addo has re-echoed that the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war are the major causes of Ghana’s current economic woes.
Presenting the 2023 State of the Nations address to Parliament on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo indicated his administration was declared the fastest growing economies before the insurgence of the above mentioned challenges.
He indicated that despite the current economic challenges, government has performed creditably well in managing the finances of the country, contrary to claims by the opposition.
Commenting on the use of the COVID funds, the president stressed that an audit has revealed there were no issues of corruption associated with its use as alleged by section of Ghanaians.
He said government invested a lot in the fight against the pandemic by ensuring Ghanaians are relieved from the then challenges, including provision of free water supply.
He, therefore, denied that government has been reckless in borrowing and managing the finances of the country as many developmental projects and interventions are there to testify its usage.
