As of 17th May 2020, a total of 7,006 persons who were tested positive of COVID -19 in South Africa were confirmed negative after two months in Isolation Centers.
Active cases from March to 17th April 2020 are 8,245 and Confirmed cases are 15,515, highest in the African Continent.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed by Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize to have spread to South Africa on 5 March 2020, with the known first patient being a South African returning from Italy.
On 15 March, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, declared a national state of disaster, [3] and announced measures like immediate travel restrictions and the closure of schools from 18 March.
