The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin raised concerns about delegation matters while speaking to Members of Parliament. Hon. Bagbin revealed that negotiations led to an agreement for him to be an observer.
However, discussions evolved to suggest that Millicent should be the observer. Considering ECOWAS precedents and rules, it was accepted that the Deputy Minority Leader should be a member of the delegation to ECOWAS.
The Speaker of Parliament Hon. Bagbin highlighted that these bodies often request staff from Ghana to work in their parliaments. Ghanaian staff are currently working there. The clerk of the Pan African Parliament was trained in Ghana and is now Secretary General/Clerk of the Pan African Parliament. Hon. Bagbin questioned why there should be problems with Ghana’s representation given the Pan African Parliament’s reliance on Ghanaian staff. He emphasized that a decision must be taken immediately.
