A total of 109,557 security officers, media personnel and other groups who will be engaged on December 7th are taken part in the special voting exercise today Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, told the media on Monday that all is set for Tuesday’s election.
Different EC Directors and reporters from various constituencies have shared their observations in the constituencies concerning the special voting which has started today December 1, 2020.
The Special Voting day is a day mainly set for media personnel, security officials, such as Policemen, Soldiers, Fire Service Personnel’s and all security Officials to vote so they can work effectively on the voting day.
Abena Pokua Ahwenee, the host of the Efa Woho show on Dadi FM 101.1, has interacted with several Electoral Commission Directors for updates on the happenings in some of the constituencies.
According to the Upper West Electoral Commission Director, Ali Osman the Special Voting program started at 7:00am at the special voting center in the Region.
He added that there are 11 constituencies and 12 polling centers in the region, and the attendance for the voting so far has been massive.
“Voting started at 7:00am and so far there is peace in all of the constituencies because the voters are also playing their part to ensure peace so everything is going on smoothly”, he said.
The Electoral Commission Director of Greater Accra Region, Kwame Amoah also added his voice by saying that, the voting process has so far been peaceful and everything is going on as expected.
Brew Daniel, a reporter at Tema added his observations from the Tema Community; he stated that all safety protocols regarding Covid-19 are being observed in Tema.
He added that to ensure that the social distancing rule is effective the floor is marked with white strokes to help the voters know their stand.
“There is personnel who rebuke voters without a mask and ensure that all voters have their mask on before voting or even standing in the line, all Covid-19 protocols are being observed”, he said.
However, he added that there was a bit of a problem in Ashaiman as some voters couldn’t find their names and others had their names spelled wrongly.
According to him, this resulted in agitation and chaos as some people insisted on voting even though their names were not existent on the voting list.
