The Military High Command, in collaboration with GEA Mastercard Foundation, Young Africa Works has organised a graduation ceremony for the eight-week-long command skills training for all spouses, dependents of military personnel, and defense civilian staff.
This training was organised in all the seven Garrisons of the Ghana Armed Forces for the selected skillsets including training in confectionaries, some selected food dishes; bead making, soap making, flower arrangements, juice making as well as some preservatives like ice cream, bisap/sobolo, makeup and in addition, educating the participants on marketing skills to include branding and packaging.
The aim is to provide the spouses with essential skills that will enable them to support their spouses both while they are in active duty and after retirement.
In the keynote address, Her Excellency, the Second Lady of the Republic, Mrs Samira Bawumia urged the ladies to put the skills they had acquired to good use and She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to encouraging an engendering entrepreneurial economy.
The CEO of the Ghana Enterprise Agency, Mrs Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, hoped that the skills acquired by the beneficiaries, provide them with an aptitude to identify business opportunities, self‐esteem, knowledge, and skills to act on them and to visit the Business Advisory Centers for help with their businesses and to apply their newly acquired skills for the benefit of their families and Ghana as a whole.
