St James Seminary Senior High School in the Bono region Student, Alex Opoku Manu has been declared as best candidate for 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination
(WASSCE ).
He also emerged best candidate for the General Science programme.
St. James Seminary is a senior high school in Sunyani, the capital of the Bono region of Ghana, founded in 1978 by Most Rev. James Kwadwo Owusu, the late bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sunyani.
The announcement was made at the WAEC Distinction Awards ceremony organized by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Ghana Office.
Benjamin Eyram Nana Kwame Degbey, a former student of St James Seminary SHS, Sunyani and Abena Afriyie Poku, a former student of Holy Child SHS, Cape Coast placed second and third respectively.
Four Programme Awards were also presented to the following winners:
- Best candidate General Science – Alex Opoku Manu, St. James Seminary SHS, Sunyani
- Best candidate General Arts – Mubarak Illiasu Danaa, T.I Ahmadiyya SHS, Kumasi
- Best candidate Business – Ato Kwamena Quansah, Presbyterian Boys’ SHS, Legon
- Best candidate Home Economics – Ewura Esi Adobea Otieku-Boadu, Cape Coast
In his remarks, the Director-General of GES, Dr Eric Nkansah, who was the chairman for the awards ceremony commended all award winners and teachers.
