The Saint Mary Catholic Church in Asamankese under the Diocese of Koforidua has donated items Worth over ¢2,000 to the male ward in the Asamankese Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.
The items includes Can Malt, Toilet Roles,Equate Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer,Absorbent cotton,Latex and Surgical Gloves.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Parish Priest, Assistant Priest, Reverend Father Martin Delali Atitson said “During the lenten season this year, specifically on 14th February (Ash Wednesday), parishioners and priests of church willfully decided to consciously take up a challenge, where they will be saving tokens of money daily, in the form of susu, Thus, every day of the 40 days of Lent, something will be saved. The intention was to fulfill one of the 3 pillar activities of Lent, ie. ALMSGIVING (Chairty). God been so good after lententide, the dream was achieved. All savings were brought together just as the early church did in Acts of the Apostles.
He said the day of donation also marks the feast of visitation of Elizabeth,wife of Zachariah to Blessed Mary to show love to her in pregnancy.
Parish Priest, Reverend Father James Buah Nkwantabisa and his team used the opportunity to visit,pray and encouraged males in admitted in the ward.
Receiving the items, Matron of the Hospital,Madam Florence Saisie thanked the Priests and their team for the kind gesture and urged others to do the same.
