Aburi Girls Senior High School’s withdrawal from the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) this year has been announced by the organizers of the contest.
This puts St. Rose’s Senior High school on the spot since they were the highest performing girls’ runner-up from the Eastern Regional Qualifiers.
According to sources, there was no reason for the school’s withdrawal and this has left spectators with mixed feelings.
The organizers revealed in a Twitter post that the school disclosed their intentions to them a few hours to the launch of the program on Tuesday, September 1.
The NSMQ was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus but was launched on Tuesday, September 1 in Accra.
The contest is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2020, as various Senior High Schools will compete for the cash price and most importantly the bragging right of winning the contest.
The managing director of Primetime Limited has also disclosed that the contest will adjust to new changes because of the pandemic.
The preliminary rounds of the contest will be held in respective regions instead of Accra and there will be no studio audience this year.
