At its public hearing ,the Chairperson of the Local Government and Rural Development Committee and MP for Agona East, Hon. Maame Pokuah Queenstar Sawyerr, has called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Denkyira East in the Central Region,Hon.George Anane to stand firm and not allow himself to be manipulated by his officers.
Her advice came as a result of failure of the Coordinating Director to appear before the Committee, by withdrawing at the last minute.
The Chairperson further urged all MMDCEs to be decisive in their leadership, adding that the Committee was prepared to back them if officers within the assemblies were undermining the authority imposed on them.
“You should be firm. And if you think they are not helping you, from here let me know, so that we make changes to enable you succeed with all the money that is sent to your district,” she said.
The Committee will continue with its public hearing to consider the audit reports of the assemblies.
