The Asamankese Circuit Court Presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced a 25 year old coconut seller, Francis Doneh, popularly known as Kojo Loso Stonebwoy to 15 years imprisonment in hard Labour for attempting robbery, contrary to section 18(2) and 149 of the Criminal Offences code 1960(Act 29).
He was also sentenced to additional four years for causing harm, Contrary to section 23(1) and 69 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960,(Act 29) but both sentences will run concurrently.
According to Prosecution statement presented by sergeant Samuel Owusu, the complainant in this case is a farmer residing at Nsawam whilst the accused person is a coconut seller from Mepom,near Asamankese.
The statement said on 11/01/2020, the complainant came to Mepom to attend one week funeral celebration of a family member and about 1:40pm, the complainant went to a public toilet to defecate but was directed to the bush by one ex-convict, Karim Fulani who was the care taker, but unfortunately,the complainant was attacked by the accused person and his colleagues who were there taking narcotic drugs with machete and attempted to snatch his handbag from him.
The Complainant struggled with the gang but unfortunately,Karim Fulani joined them and slashed his throat with the matchete and injured him.
The accused person and his gang who are now on the run after attempting to snatch the complainant bag beat him and run away but Karim Fulani was arrested by family members of the complainant with the help of Youth in the area.
On 15/04/2021, Francis Doneh was also arrested by the Police together with other suspects who were sent to Asamankese Police station for identification Parade.
Francis Doneh was quickly identified by the complainant as member of the gang that attacked him at Mepom recently and he was charged and sent to court for prosecution.
