Health Promotion Officer at the Koforidua Regional Hospital, George Antwi has asked women to stop drying their panties in the bathroom since it can have a negative impact on their vaginal health.
According to him, panties dried in the bathroom do not dry completely and can invite a lot of germs infestations.
Speaking on Bryt Fm “Menkwa” show, George Antwi lectured that wet panties give microorganisms a chance to grow and cause different types of diseases including ringworm infection, candida, urinary tract infection and among others, therefore women should discontinue hiding their panties indoors.
“Majority of women are experiencing vaginal infection because they keep wearing one pant for a long period of time,’ he said.
Mr Antwi however advised women who suffered from recurrent yeast infections to hang their underwear in the sun to reduce the risk.
Another Health Promotion Officer, Barbara A. Bonsu on her part urged women to change their undies frequently to keep them safe from germs because prolonged use of undies breeds infection.
“It’s very healthy to change our old undies and get new ones, so we can hang them in the sun,” she added.
