The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has advised Ghanaian men to desist from urinating in open gutters.
According to her, gutters are not washrooms for men to be easing themselves, stating emphatically that there are generations in Ghana who think urinating anywhere, anytime is their right.
The minister also urged Ghanaians, especially parents, to ensure their children do not urinate in open sewers.
She added it’s wrong and Ghanaians must desist from urinating drains.
“There are people who sit in very posh cars, they urinate anywhere,’’ said the minister.
Speaking at the Mole XXXII WASH Conference held at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, the Minister indicated that gutters are not their washrooms.
The program was entitled “Repositioning the WASH sector for emergency response and sustainable development”.
She also appealed to illegal small-scale miners (galamseyers) to stop their activities because they are destroying surface waters.
