Former President John Dramani Mahama has once again cautioned, in the strongest terms, aspirants and their campaigners who deliberately continue to associate his name with their campaign.
According to Mr. Mahama, he has no preference and has not endorsed any candidate in the ongoing NDC national executive elections, which climaxes on Saturday at the 10th National Delegates Congress.
A statement issues Tuesday December 13, 2022, by Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Special Aide to Mr. Mahama stated that, “Mr. Mahama has noted the attempt by some candidates to push a narrative, despite his previous cautions, that he supports their candidature.
Of paramount interest to President Mahama is Victory for the NDC in 2024 to work with expectant and suffering Ghanaians to “Build the Ghana We Want.” He, like other supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will work with whoever the delegates choose and elect.”
Meanwhile, the Office of HE John Dramani Mahama condemns a publication in a tabloid newspaper that the family of the former President is in support of one of the aspirants for National Chairman of the NDC.
The said claim and the publication are false, and the rank and file of the party are encouraged to disregard them.
Election of National Executives by opposition NDC started on December 10, 2022, with the National Youth and Women’s Organizer election. The climax of the National Congress comes off this weekend.
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw and George Opare Addo were retained as the National Women’s Organiser and National Youth Organiser respectively of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the election held in Cape Coast December 10, 2022.
Dr. Bissiw polled 433 votes to beat her closest contender, Margaret Ansei who obtained 362 votes of the total valid ballot cast during the NDC’s Women and Youth congress.
Abigail Akwabea Elorm Mensah and Felicia Dzifa Tegah who obtained 341 and 260 votes respectively were also elected as the Deputy Women’s Organisers of the Party.
George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, polled 533 votes to once again defeat his fiercest contender Brogya Genfi who polled 508 votes.
Opare becomes the first National Youth Organizer of the NDC to win a second term bid.
Ten people contested for the Deputy Youth Organiser position but after the close of polls, Osman Abdulai Ayariga and Ruth Dela Sedoh obtained 373 and 313 votes respectively and are now the newly-elected deputy officers of the youth wing of the NDC
