The European Union Sustainable Cities team visited Tema to familiarise themselves with our ongoing activities on the Strategic Sector Cooperation on Urban Water.
The team is seeking to transfer the lessons learnt on both the wastewater management track with Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and non-revenue water track with the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to cities in the northern part of Ghana.
The EU team was impressed with the activities presented and results already achieved by the SSC partners. The development of the Climate Adaptation and Wastewater Management Plan together with the digitalisation program is a big step forward for TMA to make informed and sustainable urban planning. The partnership has also contributed to a reduction in the non-revenue water level for GWCL in Tema.
The Danish partners from the City of Aarhus and Aarhus Vand have been supporting these processes since 2019.
The Embassy of Denmark wishes the EU project on Sustainable Cities in Ghana a warm welcome. We look forward to participating in the process, sharing our best practices and learning from the cities in the north.
