Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) also known as stroke has become the leading cause of death cases at the Eastern Regional hospital per the statistics at their folds.
At the reviewing of the hospital’s performance in 2019, it was revealed that 13% of death cases of stroke were recorded in 2019 with HIV/AIDS death cases recording 9.2%.
The Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, (name) revealed this during an interaction with the media on Friday, February 14, 2020, in Koforidua.
However, he has, therefore, advised Ghanaians to embark on a continuous screening as he believes that will help in preventing the rapid growth of stroke.
“Stroke can be prevented. I will urge Ghanaians to take screening serious by checking their BP’s and diabetes. When are we are able to take good care of our BP’s and diabetes, the high rate of stroke will reduce drastically” he stressed.
He, however, advised people with high blood pressure and diabetes to do exercise at their leisure time in a bid to prevent stroke, which has been a torn of a fresh on some Ghanaians.
He commended the health workers of their professional performance and urged them to continue working hard in their quest to become the leading medical centre in the country by the end of the year.
