The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suhum, Mrs. Lydia Obenewaa Afasi, has fulfilled her promise to support needy but brilliant students in the municipality.
Speaking at a brief ceremony, Mrs. Afasi said it has always been her dream to assist hardworking students who excel despite financial challenges.
“During the BECE period, I toured various examination centers and promised to support students who performed well. I’m proud to say that most of them came out with single-digit grades, and as a reward, I have presented them with books, trunks, and mattresses to motivate them to study harder in senior high school,” she stated.
She added that this initiative is the first of its kind in the Suhum Municipality and forms part of her vision to empower the youth through education.
“So far, we have supported 250 students with these items. This aligns with the President’s ‘Reset Agenda,’ which prioritizes education, and I’m determined to contribute my part to this national goal,” Mrs. Afasi emphasized.
According to her, many parents struggle to afford essential items for their children’s education, hence the gesture aims to ease their burden and inspire healthy academic competition among schools in the area.
