Police in Suhum on Sunday clashed with a family agitating over the death of their mother in Suhum Government Hospital in the Eastern region.
The family accused Nurses at the hospital of negligently abandoning their mother leading to her death.
They alleged that the Nurses were fiddling their phones while their mother was dying.
The agitation created a chaos at the hospital as some of the angry family members threatened to physically attack the Nurses.
The hospital authorities informed the Suhum Police which a team of armed Police personnel was quickly dispatched and upon arrival at the hospital, mercilessly beat and arrested some of the agitating family members.
“My mother, Korkor, was brought to the hospital critically ill with abdominal pains at 3:00 pm but the nurses refused to take care of her but rather asked that we prepare a folder and do other things. By the time we finished, she has died. They didn’t even tell us that the woman was dead. Later that we got to know she is dead so the young men were furious. But the nurses called in the police who came to beat us both men and women injured some and have arrested one “. a family member said.
The Police and hospital authorities are yet to speak on the matter.
