Innovative Teachers Association, a teacher union group has taken a different stand on the ongoing strike actions by teachers’ unions in the country.
According to a press statement issued on Tuesday, 12th July 2022, it indicated leaders of teacher unions are normally beneficiaries of fat monies allegedly given to them during strike actions.
It stressed it expects CCT, GNAT and NAGRAT to provide for all their members who pay heavy union dues a cushion of the necessities of life as the government did for Ghanaians during the peak era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vice President of the group, Ellis Otabil signed the statement however appealed to the government to cushion teachers with the supply of some basic items like rice, oil and maize during the crucial economic turnaround.
He also urged Government to consider salaries and other allowances for teachers at the right time when the economy bounces back on track to improve their conditions.
Most Teacher unions are currently on strike after the government’s failure to oblige to their request for COLA.
