The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdul Mumin Fuseini has described the party’s intellectual wing, widely known by many as TEIN as the “future of the NDC”.
General, as he is affectionately called made these comments when he appeared at an event by the TEIN to address students belonging to the association at USD, Tamale Campus, today’s Friday, March 17.
Read his full statement below:
Let me stand on the protocols already established by our previous speakers and extend my warm regards and fraternity greetings to all our comrades who have gathered here for this important program.
➢ The NDC pride itself on some of the finest leaders this country has produced in the 4th republic, this is because, since the formation of TEIN, it has produced leaders who rose to the occasion to serve the party and the country. People Like Sammy Gyamfi, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Inusah Fuseini, and many others.
➢ Over the years TEIN as the intellectual wing has been a reliable force for the party especially in providing the party with the necessary human resource in elections for the policing and monitoring of elections, especially at the polling centers.
➢ In 2008, one of the critical support the party got to win victory was the deployment of TEIN members across the country to serve as polling agents. This is because the party recognized that for the elections to be won it would be done at the polling station and it needed its best brains to be at the polling stations. And truly TEIN policed the elections and delivered victory for the party.
➢ In 2012, Tein again delivered victory for the party.
➢ Even when the party lost power in 2016 and 2020 TEIN stood for and with the party and continues to play its role.
➢ TEIN is the future of the NDC:
- the future of the NDC rests on the quality of the human resource that will handle the affairs of the party in the future and we cannot look to any other place than TEIN. This means those of you here are the future of the NDC and the party is confident that, the future is bright with you.
- the ultimate for any political party is to capture power and today the ultimate of the NDC is to win the 2024 elections. And the 2024 elections are an election for the soul of this country. And TEIN has perhaps the biggest and most important role in capturing power from the NPP.
➢ The question, therefore, is what can TEIN do to capture power. - TEIN has the responsibility as the intellectual wing that can understand the complex issues of governance, to go back to our communities, especially when school is on break to explain the bad policies of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia to our people in the language they best understand.
- TEIN must able to reach out to the student community and position the NDC as the best political party to attract members for the party.
- TEIN must sell our Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama our message, and the party to the students, on social media, positively.
- All TEIN-accredited institutions are found in constituencies and TEIN must liaise with the constituency executives to reach out to the constituents.
- In 2024 we must all go back to polling stations and make sure we become polling agents for the party and ensure the right results are captured and reflected at the coalition center.
➢ My brothers and sisters in 2016 the NPP succeeded in labeling our candidate as “incompetent” and Ghanaians bought into it and they did so by making sure anytime any of them mentioned John Mahama, incompetent was the next word and Bawumia was the leader of that crusade.
Today, Bawumia wants to lead the NPP and we must make sure to discredit him and make him look ridiculous in the eyes of the people. Thankfully, the internet doesn’t forget, and all the things he said today turned out to be false. From “if the fundamentals of the economy are weak” to “construction of concrete roads” to “we do not need to borrow”, all of these are things he said which turned out to be lies. So from now on, anywhere anytime you mention Bawumia the next to say should be “he is a liar” BAWUMIA, LIAR, BAWUMIA, LIAR. When I say Bawumia you say, Liar.
