Some angry NDC youth in Savelugu in the Northern Region has asked the paramount chief, Yoo Naa Abdulai Andani, to also intervene in the ongoing electoral dispute in the area.
The youth made the call after an explosive audio recording emerged in which the paramount chief of Mion was heard vowing to use his power and influence as chief of the area to win the Mion parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party
In the clip intercepted by Tamaleonline News, the former Bolin – Lana, said the decision to win the seat was to show his appreciation and gratitude to President Nana Akuffo Addo for fulfilling his campaign promise to him and the Abudu Royal family.
…”And I have vowed by the grace of God to deliver the seat of Mion to Nana Addo. NPP has never won the Mion seat, but now with me as the new chief, I pledge to break the illusion and make history for the NPP. It’s going to be by the will of Allah and not mine”, the chief pronounced.
It is clear when the audio was recorded but Tamaleonline understands the Mionlana could have made the comments during a meeting with some German investors and leaders of Abudu and Andani in agbogbloshie in Accra, which is said to have occurred earlier last year.
Now with the outcome of the results in the Savelugu and Mion constituencies, the NDC supporters are asking the chief of Savelugu to also meddle in the dispute by ensuring the victory of the NDC candidate in the Savelugu constituency as declared by the electoral commission is not overturned.
“What we are saying is that the Mion Lana should have stayed out of this politics business. If Mion is for NPP, Savelugu is also for NDC. We are begging the Yoo Naa to also ensure the NDC keeps the seat. Because we know the implications in our chieftaincy division if the NPP is allowed to have their way in Savelugu. It is time to exhibit his true identity as NDC because other chiefs are now doing it.”
The youth leaders said they would deliver their petition to the Yoo Naa later this week.
They also warned the NPP government to stop the attempts to use the court system to legitimize the fraudulent election conducted by the electoral commission.
