There is simmering anger mounting in Koforidua, Eastern Regional Capital as some angry youth and local sports presenters have vowed to resist a music concert scheduled to take place at the Koforidua Sport stadium now Koforidua Yiuth Resource Center from October 11 -12 while Division one league matches will be ongoing that weekend.
The angry youth argue that, the pitch of the Youth Resource center commissioned in February this year was not in good shape until recently when some Division one clubs including Okwahu United came together to rehabilitate the pitch.
They said, the concert will destroy the field since the organizers have no plan to use pitch covers.
According to them similar activities on Accra and Kumasi sports stadia contributed to the deteriorated condition which led to bans from Consideration of African Football (CAF).
The furious youth are planning to match to the Regional offices of the National Youth Authority and the Regional Football Association today Thursday to present petition to express their dissaproval.
Sources indicate that the RFA and the National Youth Authority that approved and release the stadium for the “Agio concert” advised the organizers to mount the stage on the running tracks instead of the pitch hence believe the impact will be minimal.
However the youth disagrees urging authorities to stop the concert at the stadium and relocate to a different location.
