The Local Union Chairman at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Charles Arthur has disclosed that Teachers’ and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) will embark on a nationwide strike tomorrow, Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
To him, the union will embark on the strike due to the failure of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to conclude the negotiation.
Mr Charles Arthur continued that the union demanded better conditions of service before they have declared their intention to embark on strike.
Speaking in an interview with Citi TV, Mr Charles Arthur complained that for close to two years, the commission has not been able to finalize issues on the conditions of service.
He also Arthur blamed the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission for refusing to attend to their calls hence their decision.
Mr Charles Arthur further explained that if the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission had paid attention for them to conclude the negotiations, such a situation would not have occurred.
