The Koforidua Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante has stated that the death of Jesus Christ is the greatest divine intervention to humanity because it restored the lost glory of God to mankind.
He therefore said, Easter must be well celebrated in appreciation and reflection of the divine intervention made by God that liberated humanity from the bondage of sin.
“If there is anything that should set the whole world jubilating, it should be in the time of Easter. We must jubilate and thank God. As Christians, we must understand the importance of Easter so that when we are celebrating, we will celebrate well because we understand what God has done for us “.
Apostle S. O Asante said this on Easter Friday when preaching at the Easter Convention of PIWC -Koforidua, in the Eastern Regional Capital. The Convention is on the theme: Jesus Died to Restore God’s Glory (Romans 3:23-24).
He explained that, God created human beings in His image and to possess his glory, however, this glory was lost to sin. “God had a special plan for humanity. God made man in His image and likeness -a Photocopy of God. These things speak about the glory of God. But somehow, man fell short of the glory of God through the scheming of Satan. When human -being sinned, the glory of God on man disappeared. Humankind allowed Satan to destroy the glory of God. But God had a plan to restore the glory placed on man. (Romans 3:23-24).
Apostle S.O Asante who is a member of the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost succinctly avouched that the death of Jesus Christ was purposely for restoration and redemption.
“The consequences of our sins were however taken away through the death of Jesus Christ. When Jesus died the purpose was to restore the glory of God to us. This is very important for every human being regardless of your religion. What it means is that, if somebody is an unbeliever during this Easter, we have to proclaim this good news to them. But I must add that not this Easter alone” He said.
“when it comes to us believers, the advantage is that whilst we accepted Jesus, the good news is that the glory that we lost has been restored because we have been justified fully through the redemption that came through Jesus Christ .so we have been justified, once the curse and the sin have been removed, then we become the object of God’s glory and that is what God has done for us”.
Apostle S.O Asante emphasized this divine restoration should be the fulcrum for spreading the gospel.
“It is the will of God that even outside Easter celebration, we as believers if we understand what He has done for us, then it is up to us, to go into the world and tell them about this good news and tell them about this love of God that’s God’s restoration of His Glory to Humanity. So, in Easter, it is also very important to unbelievers because it is a time, we are trying to remind humanity that when we sinned, we lost something but God through the death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection has restored this glory, this is good news. When we talk about the gospel, this is the gospel; that Christ came to die for us and out of that God has made it possible that we will be saved”
Apostle Asante concluded that” If you are an unbeliever and you have not accepted Jesus then you have not accepted this special grace of God “.
According to Apostle S.O Asante, anyone who accepts Jesus into his/her life becomes a new creation and automatically possesses the glory of God which comes with attributes and delegated power of God.
“The truth of the matter of God’s glory is that it resides in everything. This means that His glory is not about light, brilliance, dazzling, splendor, etc .these could be included in the character of God but when we are talking about the glory of God, we are talking about His very nature (psalm 19:1-4). When we accept Jesus, the curse is removed and the glory of God is restored. That you are no more under sin, you are no more falling short of the glory of God. Our faith in God must be lifted again so that we move away from what we sometimes look at things as weak and as if we don’t have anything”.
